The Shadow at the Fore (Poem)

by Andrew Gubb on September 9, 2009

As an interlude to the Finding Truth series, an old poem.

*

The stars were black on a silver sky
I never would have known
That day was honey, the night was why
A silver seed was sown

And not another bitter blade
Could touch my inner sore
But all in all it still was made
A shadow at the fore

A candle darkens a dazzling book
Th’ words burn into my brain
About the day the world was shook
Was still throughout
and came through just the same

So let’s watch the sun and the waning moon
Glow dark across the sky

My dark eyes touch the burning runes

And the forest, she offers up her light

Up
Looking down to find the sun
The doll
Just a fleeting reminder
