Fireflies flit across the leaden sky
While workers move from A to B
The sun shines pink and toddlers cry
And no-one thinks to stop and see
How the night comes slow and the moon is cold
And glow worms sparkle across the dewy field
Love is bought and thought is sold
The war is fought only once we yield
It’s never enough
The slaves build statues of the free
And no-one thinks to stop and see
Fireflies die in the poison sky
High stands the monument to the free
And no-one looks up
